Who We Are

Olivia and I are weekend warriors. Both of us work full time jobs in pursuit of our dreams. We have chosen the unexciting path of being fiscally responsible as we work toward financial independence before traveling full time. As we play the long game we are conscious of living a fulfilling life right now. This leads to regular trips into the outback in search of the best locations to hike, swim and fetch with Roan. These trips always leave us wanting more, but they also serve to keep us mindful of how we utilize our money.

Our overland journey started in the summer of 2018 when Olivia purchased a 3rd gen 4Runner. She was looking for a reliable platform that would provide more access to remote locations while being livable for the three of us. Our first year in this Toyota was spent exploring the high deserts and costal mountain ranges of Oregon and the red dirt of Moab. We slowly made modifications to the 4Runner as they were needed, upgrading exterior lighting, suspension, and adding a bumper and winch. While upgrading our suspension, we caught our first in-person glimpse of what would later become our Toyota Land Cruiser Troop Carrier.

It was roughly 14 months from purchasing the 4Runner that we decided to buy our Troopy (click here for the full story). The 4Runner was an absolute blast to drive on the trail, but it left us wanting a bit more at the end of the day sitting in camp. The Troopy was more expensive than either of us wanted to spend, but it made absolute sense as our next vehicle. We had watched so many videos and heard multiple stories of people jumping from one platform to the next, never fully satisfied with what they had. This led us to the mindset of buying it right the first time. So we bought our dream vehicle!
